A/Prof Vinayak Dixit

Academic Director, IAG

A/Prof Vinayak Dixit is the Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI), Director Travel Choice Simulation Laboratory (TRACSLab) at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW Australia. In addition, he is an Academic Director at IAG, and founder of Datrum. His key research interest lies in studying risk in the transportation infrastructure system as it relates to automated vehicles, highway safety, travel time uncertainty, as well as natural and man-made disasters. His research has relied on using highly disaggregate data to infer individual preferences under risk and uncertainty, and its implication on systems. His work with individual level data has led him to deeply explore questions around data ethics, integrity and ownership.

 

His projects have been funded by the Australian Research Council, United States National Science Foundation, as well as transportation agencies across the world including Australia, U.S., Indonesia, India and U.A.E. He is currently leading a large grant with industry (insurers and OEMs) and government partners to study impact of interactions with other road users in an autonomous environment.

Abhishek Shah

Abhishek Shah is a co-founder and CEO of Wellthy Therapeutics, an artificial intelligence powered digital therapeutic that improves health literacy, facilitates behaviour change and helps reverse and control diabetes, while helping life and health insurers to enable continual care, reduce risk and improve outcomes both short and long term for their policyholders.  

Abhishek comes with more than a decade of healthcare experience, having previously co led an early stage fund as a venture capitalist, been an entrepreneur in residence, and held leadership positions in his healthcare family businesses. Abhishek holds a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Indian School of Business (ISB).

Executive Director, Ernst & Young

Adam has been working in technology and financial services for 20 years, the last 10 having spent on UBI.  He launched numerous UBI products, notably working with Insurethebox, Allianz, Zurich, Aviva, BMW, JLR, Coverbox and others.  Adam is now an Executive Director for EY, focusing on UBI and Insurance Innovation for EY in APAC.

Agnes Hugot is an entrepreneur in finance, having launched successful ventures and financial services lines for international banks, PE houses and international consulting firms. She has more than 20 years of experience in international finance, start up and asset management. She has been based in Singapore since 2015 where she is currently supporting the development of “Fast Track Trade”, a digital trade platform dedicated to support SME international commerce and processed by Distributed Ledger Technology. 

 

She previously held executive positions for investment banks (Bank of Scotland, Landsbanki) and Private Equity funds (Apax Partners) for 10 years after 7 years of auditing/consulting for E&Y and Coopers & Lybrand. 

 

As an Investment Director and as Head of Recovery/High Risk for international banks, she has experienced all the pain points on trans-frontier financing, Know Your Customer issues as well as payment uncertainty and recovery in non-banker-friendly jurisdictions. 

 

She has obtained two regulatory approvals from the French Monetary Authorities (AMF) as a CEO of asset management companies. First to operate a restructuring fund (Finactive) backed by a bank (Bank of Scotland) in 2003 and then to run a private debt management company (Aloïs Investissement) backed by private equity houses (Capzanine and 123Ventures) in 2009.

Aki Ranin

Technology industry veteran and former software developer Aki Ranin is co-founder and chief operating officer of Bambu. He is a recognized authority in FinTech and an accomplished technology executive with a highly technical background.

 

With a deep-rooted passion for tech, he holds 15 years of experience in developing companies and creating spectacular results. In his previous role as Commercial Director for Tigerspike, he focused on growing the financial services business across Southeast Asia and also established the partnership of Tigerspike and Bambu. Once Vice President of Technology at Avaus, he ran operations and P&L for a team of 50 designers and software engineers. Antony Lewis

Director of Research, R3

Antony is Director of Research for R3’s Lab & Research Centre in Singapore.

 

In this role he researches and explains the evolving concepts, technologies and vendors in the distributed ledger technology landscape for R3 members, policymakers, and the wider Singapore and APAC community.

 

He also writes a personal blog explaining this technology at www.bitsonblocks.net .

 

He has been working professionally in the distributed ledger industry since joining itBit (now Paxos) in 2013. In 2015-16 he independently consulted to clients in the finance, consulting, legal, policy, and education sectors.

 

Prior to bitcoins and blockchains, Antony was a technology project and product manager at Credit Suisse in London and Singapore having started his banking career as an FX trader at Barclays Capital.

Bethany Boll

VP of Partnership and InsurTech Lead

Bethany Boll is the VP of Partnerships at MyDoc. Bethany joined Mydoc in 2016 to lead the Partnerships division, initiating and managing relationships with industry leading providers in health. Key partnerships include major insurance companies and TPAs, for which MyDoc provides online healthcare services which complete and enhance the services members receive via web and app-based technology.

 

Transferred to Singapore in 2013, prior to joining MyDoc Bethany managed multinational account contracts with large employers in Asia - overseeing health consulting and broking services provided to corporate HR clients. Her clients came from a spectrum of industries but with a concentration in the hi-tech sector. In this role she led her clients to adopt leading health management strategies and vendors across the region.

 

Bethany earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Colgate University in the United States, and was previously a licensed insurance broker in the US (2009-2013) and Singapore (2013-2016).

Chris Chan

Before his success, Chris dropped out of school at the age of 18 and was heavily in debt at the age of 23 due to his business failure during the Asian Financial crisis. He picked himself up from the pit by joining the financial services industry in 1999.

Clarie Kwa

Clarie is Director and Head of Business Development in 360F. Before that she was Head of Insurance for the Asian practice in a globally active management consultancy firm.

 

Clarie started her career in a Jardine Matheson subsidiary as a management trainee and eventually built up and headed the service operations department. She later switched paths, spending the last decade in the insurance/advisory industry, in frontline and back-end functions. During her consulting career, Clarie leveraged her distribution experience in strategic and large-scale implementation projects, connecting the dots across the value chain in life and general insurers for a holistic value-adding impact.

 

Clarie studied Economics and Psychology at National University of Singapore (2000 – 2004), graduating with an honours degree. She obtained Master of Business Administration degree from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (2013) and received the Swiss Federation Scholarship to complete the Master of Arts in Strategy & International Management from University of St. Gallen in Switzerland (2016). Clarie is also a certified Reiss Profile® Master.

Clement Bouthelier

COO, UEX

Clément is the COO of UEX, he manages the operations including the development of the platform. It is the core of UEX: a 100% online platform that allows customers to customize, signe and pay their insurance in a few minutes.

Before joining UEX, Clément grew up in Singapore then graduated from a Engineering school and worked in the technological field during more than ten years as process manager, economist and data scientist in the banking industry then oil and gas sector.

Dan Woods

Founder & CEO, Socotra

Dan Woods is founder and CEO of Socotra, which brings modern enterprise software productization to core insurance IT.

 

Prior to that, Dan did IT investing and portfolio building for Formation 8 Partners (now 8VC, which Dan still advises), where Dan specialized in data platforms and smart enterprise. Dan’s depth of enterprise experience starts earlier, when he worked six years with Palantir. There, Dan was a core engineer on Palantir version 1.0 and later transitioned to run Palantir’s partnerships, plus several deployments.

 

Dan Woods holds a masters of science in computer science from Stanford University, where he was published in artificial intelligence (ISMB ‘Best Paper’ 2006). Dan’s mission today is modernizing insurance IT by applying approaches and technologies proven in other data-intensive industries.

Dinesh Shenoy

Dinesh Shenoy leads Socotra’s product delivery operations and brings a hands-on, creative approach to helping clients succeed.  Prior to Socotra, Dinesh spent seven years at Palantir leading its international expansion into Asia with international assignments in Dubai, India, and Singapore.  Dinesh has two Masters degrees from MIT from the Sloan School of Management and the Technology and Policy Program as well as a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.

Galen Goh

Galen is the business development manager at PolicyPal. He works closely with the founding team to drive partnerships and distribution touch points. He is passionate to re-create the new way of how individuals and organisations buy and manage the insurance policies. Galen graduated with a Bachelor degree from University of Adelaide and previously worked in a global insurance company and spent some time in another tech startup before joining PolicyPal.PolicyPal is the first insurtech start-up to use “optical character recognition” (OCR) on insurance policies to scan, analyse and present a comprehensive overview of their coverage information to users within 30 seconds. This is achieved by cross-referencing an immense database of insurance premiums, coverage and jargons from 27 insurance companies in Singapore. PolicyPal maps insurance jargons to relevant fields, automating the extraction and population process so that users always have quick access to their insurance policies even under unforeseen circumstances.

Gianni Cristian lannelli

CEO, Ticinum Aerospace

Gianni Cristian Iannelli is Co-Founder and CEO of Ticinum Aerospace (TA), a spinoff company of the University of Pavia, Italy. Ticinum Aerospace is specialized in analysis and processing of geospatial and Earth-Observation data for risk assessment, by means of machine learning techniques (Deep Learning, CNNs) applied to Big Data analysis of remotely sensed data.
 
Before starting TA, Gianni obtained a full-mark Master degree in Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing at the University of Pavia. He then had important chances of further developing his skills; first in a Risk management company in England, under an Erasmus Traineeship scheme, and then in the high-rank PUC Rio University in Brazil, in the framework of an international project oriented to developing multi-risk assessment tools. In the meantime, he took part to several projects related with geospatial, risk-related data processing.

Gina Heng

Grace Fong

As VP of Distribution for CXA Group, Grace is responsible for driving distribution and partnership deals with banks, insurers, reinsurers, and healthcare providers within the increasingly vibrant fintech, healthtech, insurtech ecosystem.

 

Prior to joining CXA, she was the Practice Leader for Health & Group Benefits at Towers Watson where she buildout their benefits brokerage service offering in Singapore. She advises clients in the areas of employee benefits strategies integrated with preventive health management programs to help companies drive employee engagement and productivity at the workplace. Prior to joining Towers Watson, Grace was the Director of Sales and Client Relationships at Mercer and worked with global MNCs and local SMEs from an array of industry sectors including consumer goods, energy, finance, logistics, pharmaceutical, hi-tech and more.

Matthias de Ferrieres

Matthias spent 15 years in AXA Asia where he started as an actuary in 2001 before covering different management positions focusing in transforming the fast-growing organization.

Maureen Nova Ledesma

Maureen is the co-founder and CEO of Vesl. She is on a mission to bring equal opportunities in trade financing to businesses worldwide. She has previously worked in different areas of banking but later found her passion in financing international trade while working at Czarnikow Group in London. Maureen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management of financial institutions in De La Salle University Manila and a master’s degree in financial management from Vlerick Business School in Brussels.
